Tracings of the Soul is a documentation of time. Each line marks a journey, either physical or psychological and each canvas is a map. Dreamweaver, the central sculpture acts as the vortex and depicts the transformation from one solid element to the spidery threads that reach into the ethos.
This body of work comes after two years of explorations in an art / science collaboration which culminated in two exhibitions Six Degrees of Separation and Time of Transition in May 2008. The emotive and ethereal nature of Tracings of the Soul seemed at first to be a reaction to the geometric patterning of the previous exhibitions but the underlining message of the fragility of our interconnections and structures remains constant.
Tracings of the Soul is ultimately about the tenuous nature of our existence, how the most delicate of threads keep us from falling.
